COLOURFUL LAKE
I decided to name this one colorful lake because it is more or less like an impression painted with water color, i decided to paint a main land where there is one tree with yellow red leaves and a lake beside it, the refection of every thing on the land is appearing on the lake from the tree to the to the color of the environment. looking at the piece it looks really vibrant because of the color flow which is the more reason why i personally enjoyed it after the completion of the painting.
Very simple and detailed right? this certainly is a quiet environment, and quiet environments are always very peaceful, you find only one family in places like this, before i stared the piece i knew exactly what i wanted to depict do i made sure i apply my paint as simple and as scanty as possible, the reason why i personally like this piece is the simplicity of the piece, i hope you enjoy it as well.
DISTANCE
In art distance is a very interesting topic, it is what we know as perceptive, the more far it get the smaller it appears , and the closer the bigger, this seem to be an interesting aspect of life, in this painting i try to show perspective but not just that but something beautiful , a cross road with a very colorful sky and a lake under the cross road.
This is a new year, i have have been practicing art for years now and sold very few works of mine, today am happy that i have reached another level in Art generally, from my pencil works to my paintings and i have been inspired by several artist like yusuf grillo, jonathan Kwegyir aggrey, biodun omolayo and some other very talented artist have meet and studied their works, it is time for me to take another step , so i decided to take a whole different approach towards marketing my art, though nothing different specifically but i think that art should also be treated with enough respect like music, comedy etc.., an artist too has a life to live , money to put things in place, there are very limited art blogs online especially in Africa here that's one of the reason why am building my own to inspire other artist to come online and reach out to people with word that will sell their art, I am officially selling 10 new water colour landscape painting that will be available from 25 of February in my online gallery and some other store online to facilitate easy purchase and delivery , these paintings are all painted by me , this will be the first series of painting i will be selling, and this is the method i will be using to market my works as time goes on, these works will only be posted in the stores and my gallery. imagine what your living room, offices and bed room will look like with a very interesting water colour painting. so save up to pick one or two paining at affordable price, all original works no prints, from 25 of February, thank you!!
for taking few minutes of your precious time to check out some of my art piece,
the internet has connected the whole world together, people seems closer,
every thing seems to be at the tip of our finger tip, so as a piece of
art, several artist like me has as well take advantage of this
opportunity to reach out to people differently and still maintain the
value of what it is to creatively create something with our God given
hands and mind, a piece of art work is meant to convey a specific
meaning, to the viewer which is been created by the artist, the moods
of the piece conveys something as well as the colour and the specific
figure or object on a painting or drawing,

here
is the painting from my previous blog post which i initially started
and promise to post the finished piece after the completion of it, and
here it is , the full monochrome painting named (EWA) ''Ewa'' is a
Yoruba word which means beauty, looking at the piece you will see a
young woman i painted using one Color which we normally call monochrome
and in different tones (chiaroscuro) from the darkest part of blue to
the lightest part of blue. i completed the piece in two day , spent up
to about an hour on both days to achieve it, i personally really enjoy
this painting because of the freedom of using one colour to capture a
figure to express a specific meaning.

Talking
about ewa, (beauty) is an important phenomenon in human life that
cannot be ignored. Even
the skeptics and the agnostics are at breast with this term. Just as one
hears of Greek philosophy, Indian philosophy, African philosophy we
also hear of Aesthetics, that is the study of beauty. This could either
be from Western, Eastern or African perspectives. This tends to suggest
that like philosophy, Beauty is culture- relative or relative to
culture, and to express true beauty i decided to paint a female because
complete beauty can be seen in a woman.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249842835553765302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7814093038364243995.post-68558608661465399712015-09-29T21:18:00.001-07:002015-09-29T21:34:10.258-07:00monochrome painting (EWA - BEAUTY)

One interesting thing about painting is that the freedom is unlimited, with the brush and paint everything just seems perfect, lately have been working on some painting and as well as working twice as hard to set up my online gallery so can officially start marketing my works online.

here is a monochrome painting i started a while ago, i haven't completed it but i want you to feel the process and the staring point before i post the full paining here, personally i think paining with one colour in different tones , which is from the lightness of the particular colour to the darkest part of it makes the painting real and interesting to the sight.

before starting the painting i piratically wanted to make it an imaginative painting because i really don't want to spend much time on it, some times i just get in the mood of putting something down but then i saw a reference of a pencil work i did sometimes ago so i decided to use the reference , i just wanted the face of woman on the painting so i paid less attention to the remembrance though the resemblance was there due to the fact that i could not formulate certain things but i am really enjoying this work let me take a pause then resume later... here is the painting , not fulling done yet. any comment?
Drawing with charcoal can be a little messy but the shining black and softness of the material makes using charcoal very interesting and chilling, before i started this piece initially wanted to make use of pencil but changed my mind because of the reference i used to make the drawing , the reference was really dark due to where and when the image was taken.

What inspired me to make this portrait is not just for the purpose of making a portrait of a little African girl but the expression of the face of the girl, one can relate a lot from her looks, if i frame this piece i want who ever would purchase it to visualize and read a specific meaning out of this piece, what i see personally is a girl who is unhappy, we all know whats happening in the African society of today with underage girls been maltreated and so on...it took me just 4 hours in two days to complete the piece and its a 10 by 12 inches portrait.

here is a realistic piece of an African girl i started working on few hours ago, the medium is charcoal on paper, as you can see its coming out real, as soon as i complete the piece i'd post it straight away.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249842835553765302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7814093038364243995.post-53300274382044106022014-12-23T19:09:00.000-08:002014-12-23T19:09:53.872-08:00Blue pen sketch (Art)Hello audience, thanks for visiting my blog. today i decided to update something on my blog, i first thought of posting my recent paintings but decided not to share them yet for personal reasons, but real soon i will surely show them here. This is a portrait of a little baby with a really funny facial expression, i achieved using ordinary pen and a sketch paper, using pen to draw is a little uneasy because here there is no room for correcting mistakes unlike pencil where you can easily control the thickness of the lines when you start drawing, here you have to be very careful, focused and also pay attention to every detail, when using pen to shade using the cross hatching method of shading is much more acceptable and common, some other artist make use of pointillism but cross hatching will give you a more interesting work of art using pen, talking about how long it took me to complete this drawing? really short, i spent just 4hours. the magic is, with pen you apply once so been careful in your application and following the right steps the job is going to come out exactly the way you want it.
I guess making it a pencil work exhibition which is to create unique pencil works in different sizes and different ideas, the thing is that i was at a photography exhibition recently and i was really inspired by what i saw at the exhibition and i told my self ,creating these kind of unique images with my pencil would be very interesting and unique, talking about realism ,maybe i could actually make it my first art exhibition ? well i will still be doing some real thinking on this as time goes on definitely , you can also share some ideas with me as well thanks, see some of my recent pencil works after cut

I could not just wait to write an article about Jonathan Kwegyir Aggrey after attending his exhibition at Biodun omolayo's Art gallery and also having a brief conversation with him, so today i decided to write briefly on what i feel about his art, he is an incredible artist from Ghana, and to be sincere he has really changed at lot about me since i meet him, basically my perspective as a growing artist.

according to Jonathan Kwegyir Aggrey he makes art in several art mediums but most of his works are watercolor painting which i personally find really interesting , i was opportune to see several of his watercolor paintings and i was really moved, these works were very detailed, unique and very different from what i have been seeing as a growing artist, here is my favorite piece among many more of his paintings. click here to see more of his paintings
don't put on clothes, and if you look at the art work closely you would
see tribal marks on her face and her body precisely her chest.see pictures after cut and more on yoruba tribal marks.

the extant laws, and international campaign, is the tribal marks. Tribal
or facial mark- is a specific mark, which comes in different shapes and
sizes, commonly found on the face. There are various tribal marks, by
different ethnic groups within Yoruba nation. The Ijeṣa people are known
by “pele.”

Pele, is a-four-horizontal-line; a-quarter-of-an-inch-long made on
the cheeks on both sides of the mouth. The Ondo natives of (Ondo State)
are identified by half-an-inch-vertical lines on both sides of the nose
down to the mouth (marks are thick and long). Other Yoruba ethnic
groups have different types of facial marks; Ogbomoso natives of (Oyo
State) are identified by multiple straight and curved lines (Gombo) on
both sides of the face. Other sub-groups within Yoruba nation have only
curved lines on both sides of their face. Even, a particular mark, may
have varieties among neighbors; for instance, Pele has about three
versions: Pele Ijesa (discussed) Pele Ekiti
(quarter-of-an-inch-horizontal-line) and Pele Akoko (about the same
length, but comes in either vertical or horizontal format); the style
will depends on Akoko by Ekiti, Bini and Okun neighbors. The purpose of
facial marks in the past was to identify each group within Yoruba
nation, to beautify, and to identify slaves. Because of the health
implications and several abuses, it has become an outlaw practice in
Nigeria.

I want to use this blog to reach out to the world by displaying my works, and all works includes my paintings, sketches and some other works in different art medium and i might post pictures as well and a little update on Nigeria and Africa art,, i love taking pictures a lot.. landscape pictures and different kinds so even artist like me can pick up references here, i know you would wonder why i have not putting everything i just wrote here, the answers is "am taking my time", Like i said on my "about me" i
am still a student and to be honest i am not in any art school yet, i am actually studying french language currently... i will be done with that any time soon.
I know you would have this on your my mind "this guy should be making his cash now" i should probably start selling my works.. yeah i get that a lot, but one thing i know for sure is that there is time for every thing, there are still a lot i need to learn, example "how to hold the pencil" lol you really need to see the way i handle pencil when am drawing, most artist i know laugh at me but yeah i'm better than most of them yet, i thank God for that.
I am not going to sell anything here on my blog, am only going to post write ups and my art works, when am ready to market my works i will create an official site for that, if you really like any work and probably you want to have it, email me okiibrahimabiola@gmail.com we would talk personally and for sure you are going to get the work.

Been seen a lot of 3d illusion art works online, and am like there is something about our eyes I don't really get, I guess I would do some reading on that. So today I also decided to come up with different kind of 3d illusion without any already done reference, so I started off with taking pictures of objects placing them on a flat surface some resting on the wall, to have the perfect image of where the shadows are falling and the light areas, after few trials I was able to get the magic behind some 3d illusion. Pictures would be uploaded later on. Thanks for visting and reading
